Rujuta Sheth grew up around many artisans in India— so when she launched her namesake line in 2015, she organically gravitated back to her home and those traditional techniques.

After studying at FIT in New York, Sheth worked at several sizable fashion brands like Donna Karan and Pamella Roland. But she found herself unsure about what she wanted to pursue and returned to India, where she traveled around and met many weavers and artisans. She realized she wanted to create a line that incorporated those crafts—and by January 2015, she’s launched her first capsule collection.

Years later, Sheth’s pieces still combine modern, fashionable silhouettes with natural dying and handloom techniques, which use human power—not electricity—to manually weave, warp and weft yarns together. Traveling between New York and India, she creates flattering clothing that also honor the traditional prints and patterns. The pieces are also comfort-conscious with drapey silhouettes and comfortable weaves.

Sheth’s pieces are made in a fair trade Indian factory, that is committed to ethical, equitable employment. She uses organic azo-free dyes as well as completely recyclable packaging.

The brand will be launching a its spring collection soon. More about it can be found here
