Lâcher Prise

Lâcher Prise comes from the French expression meaning “liberation achieved by detaching from the desire to control” and letting go of any emotional restraint. This is what Marine Delmau wanted to convey through her designs. 

Having moved to NYC in 2011 to study at Parsons School of Design, the French native graduated and spent several years working in fashion, but longed to build a brand all her own. So she set out to create clothing that embodied the liberating Lâcher Prise ethos.

The pieces are designed to be rocked many different ways, giving wearers more freedom when styling/expressing themselves.

“Most of our pieces offers a variety of ways to wear it …it all began with our first design the ‘liberté’, an ‘all in one’ simple pattern/design that can be styled in a multitude of ways: halter beach dress, cross-back cocktail dress, cowlneck open-back top, skirt, infinity scarf you name it …” Delmau explained.  

Once the liberté design was completed and perfected, variant designs were made, while keeping with the brand’s versatile, genderless nature. Their simple silhouettes and fashionable-yet-functional natural makes all of them moldable to wearers’ whimsies. 

Delmau manufactures the pieces as consciously as possible by designing and making them in NYC. She also uses TENCEL® and Lenzing Modal® fabrics, which are soft, stretchy and environmentally conscious. 

In the coming months, Lâcher Prise will be launching several partnerships and initiatives. 

“We are collaborating on a small and limited collection with PYRATES; a European smart fabrics developer and supplier that offers eco-responsible & quality driven elevated knit fabrics made with innovative natural fibers making the final fabrics functional and rich in body benefitting properties,” Delmau explained. 

The line will also be starting a fashion collective with like-minded sustainable designers and artists in the next few months in Tulum, Mexico.
